The elections are here

Was looking at the news the other day. Some politician was on a rally somewhere in the villages of UP. The media was busy snapping him up and the politician ( lets call him "PO" henceforth) was busy notching up some brownies by picking up some poor villagers 5 year old kid. That is when it hit me. Imagine the picture. A fat, gross, sweating, khadi wearing PO holding on to a scrawny, bewildered, malnourished 5 year old and in the background is his Mitsubishi Pajero parked at the door of this 1 room hutment that is threatening to collapse at any moment along with the inmates who look like THEY will collapse any moment out of sheer hunger and apathy. The drama of him requesting them too vote for him so that he could go back to the comforts of the city and continue whatever business he was into for the next 5 years and leave them exactly if not worse than they are at the moment seem unreal. Makes me wonder. Are these villagers daft?. Are they stupid?. Raving mad? or perhaps mentally affected by the hunger and poverty that they cannot see the ridiculousness of the event that they go out and vote for him?.

My guess is NO. They are not stupid in any measure. They are just poor and tied down. Tied down by the burden and helplessness that comes with abject poverty. They are hopeful.Hopeful that this pig of a PO will turn a new leaf and maybe, MAYBE think of doing his elected work for once in his useless life and redeem himself.

What more can they ask for, hope for?

I wonder what can be done for them?

I wish I could do something.

Damn, I wish I could help.

Back after a longtime...

Been very long.......

Procrastination is a fuckin addicting thing....

Moved on in life a lot since the last posts..

Took the possibly biggest decision of my life to quit my job and go after my dream...to fly.

Will continue my posts after my decision to shift.

Never argue with a fool...

I am in a time where bachelorhood is under attack. As the years go by more and more of my friends are succumbing to the calls of married lives. I lost a good friend to familyhood recently. SidKid( the once eternal dude) is getting married.

Poor guy !!! I pass my condolences to him.

Hope the guy isnt driven crazy by the rigours of marriage. ;)

Goaaaaaaa yeaaaaaahhhh!!

Finally get the time to update the blog...I am a bad bad boy...been neglecting this blog too much to excuse.

Well I did end up going to Goa.Months of futile day dreaming and weeks of ferverent waiting later here we were ready to leave.

We .... the "We" here is my buddy Santosh, the eternal "dude" Sidkid and myself (more about us looney tunes ahead) decided make the journey by road after some discussion (I say is there any other way to do it ??). We packed up into my Wagon R on a early November morning. I picked up santo and we met sid at his home. After a cup o coffee in sid's place we decided to start off.

The time was 5 am so the roads were like empty. Made it at a fast clip till BHEL and that is when the first of our adventures started.

We were doing comfortable 100 kmph on a clean, empty stretch of road. The only thing in sight was trees and the sky and a one odd cyclist and a lone autorick in the horizon. It was this "one odd cyclist and a lone autorick in the horizon" that gave us an all mighty scare. The cyclist was on the left hand side of the road and in a true indian reflex decided at the very moment we were to cross him that it was the right time to cross the road with out as much as a glance on to the road. The cyclist made a lazy , sweeping move towards the right side of the road and caught us heading on a bang on collision course with him. After a lot of screaming and yelling of some censored opinions about the cyclist and his mother and desperate screeeching brakes we narrowly avoided hitting him only to find ourselves in the path of the previously mentioned autorick.
It was the turn of the autorick guy to let loose some choice comments on us and narrowly avoid us. We did not come to a complete stop but took off immediately. The image in the rear view mirror screwed with my happiness more than the narrow miss itself. The goddamn dickhead on two wheels did have a fuckin clue as to how close his emancipated butt was to being in the grave. He was pedalling away with no problem.

The speedometer did not venture above 70 kmph for a good 2 to 3 hours till we decided to halt for breakfast.

It is here that I will tell you about Sidkid's secret mission while he was at Goa. He decided to grace every ..i mean EVERY ... public loo that he could get his hands on with his presence. We even have evidence....

After a good breakfast we left again....will contimue the journey in my next entry.

Forts!!!!!!

Had a great day today....went all the way to Bhongir. For the unitiated Bhongir is a fort situated 51 kms from Hyderabad in India. This fort is located upon a single hill at Bhongir. More than 500 feet high and spread over an area of 40 acres, the fort was considered practically impregnable by invading armies. Built in the 12th century by western Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya it has a unique egg-shaped construction with two entry points protected by huge rocks. A moat that encircles the fort, a vast underground chamber, trap doors, an armoury, stables, ponds, wells etc., make for fascinating viewing. The view from top of the surrounding countryside is simply breathtaking.

Went for the drive in truely suberb conditions ( see below:cloudy, temperature between 22 and 25 degrees celcius and a mild wind).
Reached the fort and realised that there is no road to the top only a stone stairway. Decided it was not up to me for the hike and snapped a few at the foot of the fort and from its ramparts.

The fort looked really awesome from below....

Have a look at some of the snaps I took...

If you are wondering about the bloke in the pic above....he is my buddy Sridhar...the only fellow in the world I know of who can sleep while riding a bike (PS: his sleeping habits reached "accidental" proportions and he one day woke up on the road after a tree walked into his way...ended up wih 3 broken ribs and one very embarassed guy !!!)

A view from the outer wall
